William Lench Court - Public Consultation
At William Lench Court, we held a busy public event on our purposed plans to put ecp-pods into a Trust owned woodland at the back of an existing scheme in Quinton, Birmingham. The primary focus of the design is focused on nature connectivity for older people, our aim is to develop a social contract which encourage community participation in maintaining and enhancing the green spaces, building a sense of belonging and mutual care.
The design process has been exhaustive with short, medium and long term plans in how we enhance the biodiversity of the woodland, the pods have been designed to tackle fuel poverty through good thermal design. The space designed to play a major role in how residents feel about where they live, we hope the homes will have a profound impact on peoples health and wellbeing.
We understand this has the potential to be the first of its type for an affordable housing scheme for later living in the country. If successful this would be a significant milestone in our 500th anniversary year.
Our planned outcomes:
Long-term sustainability
Sense of ownership
Biodiversity Protection
Cost-effectiveness
Improved Health & Wellbeing
We have had superb support from our design team namely, Pegasus Group and WSP. Next stop is a full planning submission in late summer.
