Become a Volunteer

Lench’s Trust has been a part of Birmingham for almost 500 years helping older people in need as well as promoting their independent living. Through this time we have built up a wonderful community around Birmingham.

Why volunteer with Lench’s Trust?

Lench’s Trust welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds to come and help us ensuring our residents remain active citizens, fully engaged in their community. Volunteering at Lench’s Trust means you will be a part of this community, engaging with residents and getting to learn more about their generation.

Volunteering is also a great way to improve your existing skills, or even gain brand new ones with the Trust. There are plenty of opportunities available when volunteering with the Trust and joining our community lets you meet new people, gain confidence and add to your CV as work experience is gained.

  • So how can you help at Lench’s Trust? We have many different opportunities at the Trust for you to be stuck into.

As an individual, we have many roles available from working with Scheme Managers to help combat social isolation with some of our most vulnerable residents to being an activity support, working with staff in facilitating a wide range of activities in our communal facilities. You may be even interested in volunteering at Raj’s Bistro in William Lench Court, providing hearty homemade meals to residents that need them.

As a School or Youth Group, you may be willing to spend time with our residents and take on projects such as developing garden allotments, organising games, coffee mornings, workshops or even concerts.

You may want to even donate your time and expertise to support our staff in various practical ways – for example: administration, fundraising, maintenance, or as a Trustee.

  • We don’t ask for a specific skill set but what is important to us is your enthusiasm and commitment to work.

  • We offer inductions for every new volunteer so you can learn about how the Trust operates, and training will be provided depending on your role.
