Lench's Trust Weekly Coronavirus Update

Latest Government Advice

With other 20,000 deaths from the coronavirus in hospital, and possibly as many in the community and care setting, the current lockdown is more imperative that ever as the UK has not yet reached the peak of the health crisis.

We can only reiterate the Government's Advice which is to:

  • Avoid going out to public places unless for food shopping;
  • Social distancing - avoid ALL contacts outside your household. This includes family members - or other residents from your scheme;
  • If you have symptoms please self-isolate for 7 days. If you are no better after 7 days call 111 for advice - If someone in the house is showing symptoms then it'll be a total of 14 days self isolation;
  • Do not go to your GP Practice - and in many instances now do call them only in cases of emergencies.

The Government also STRONGLY advises that, in any case, people over the age of 70 should stay at home.

It is disappointing to see residents still using public transport for their errands, going out shopping despite the support offered by Lench's Trust, going onto the streets to walk their dogs or even going to their families for a meal!

PLEASE BE CAREFUL, FOR YOUR SAKE, THE STAFF'S AND YOUR NEIGHBOURS'.

Lench's Trust Measures

  • All communal areas are now fully closed, including the Laundry;
  • Staff will attend the sites only minimum hours to reduce exposure and to protect both staff and residents:
    • Scheme Managers on site only to do call around and check on the wellbeing of their residents;
    • Head Office Staff & Maintenance Staff organising and distributing shopping at Lench's Close and William Lench Court, collecting rubbish and distributing the post;
    • Maintenance staff and trusted contactors on standby for emergencies only;
    • Staff wearing PPE at all times.

                                              ONLY KEY CARERS AND STAFF ALLOWED TO COME ON SITE

.

Since the last newsletter we are pleased to report that we do not have any residents nor members of staff in self-isolation due to coronavirus symptoms.

We are still recommending that all residents or staff with a health condition which put them at higher risk to stay isolated until further advice.

.

On a brighter note I would like to wish a Happy Birthday on behalf of all to the following residents & staff who had a birthday in April:

  • ChinChin, Mr Torabi, Doreen Shirley, Arthur Woollaston, Betty McGettrick, Cathy Lynch, Catherinf McGeogh, Andy Shaw, Jenny Grey, Alan Lloyd, Lyn Landucci, Mandy Baldock & Ken Canton at William Lench Court;
  • Jean Turley, Dave Creed, Christopher Lencyzk, Edith Randon, Mary Slater, Joyce McCormick & Seymour Carty at Lench's Close;
  • Jean Cartwright, John Phillips, Davine Cockrill & Sandra Hodgson at Tanner's Close;
  • Lee Taylor, Lauran Sullivan, Jayne Davis, Tsitsi Kachiwala, Shirley Taggart, Raffi Campbell, Michelle Wilmot, Margaret Foden & Carrie-Ann Billings (Staff)

.

Important Message:

Despite a Home Secretary reporting a drop in shoplifting in March  (somebody forgot to tell her the shops are closed), opportunistic crimes are rising. Please;

  • Do not let anyone you have never seen before approach you unless introduced by a member of staff;
  • Do not open website links you do not know;
  • Always check with a member of staff first - criminals will often look genuine and use official UKGOV logos or fake IDs
